Pughoboto, April 20 (MExN): With the vision to protect the environment and maintain an ecological balance and also to beautify the entire villages of Pughoboto Subdivision, MLA Y Vikheho Swu launched a tree plantation at ADC office Pughoboto on April 20.

A DIPR report stated that Swu said tree plantation is not a new concept but added that tree plantation drive had not existed much in the life of Nagas in the past, because of the abundant forest. He said human wants have become unlimited in this modern world and for their needs, people undertake deforestation which is often not replaced by planting more trees.

He started this tree plantation drive in the division in 2014. He said his vision is to start and improvise a stable economy and supply the surplus to other areas. Swu urged the area people to streamline the plantation initiative and show a good example for others to learn.

Thousands of three kinds of sapling trees were distributed from the ADC office to the areas wise including Cherry, Pine, and Bukul. He appealed to the villages to vie each other for the beautification of the villages.

The MLA, ADC, and government officials also visited the Mini Secretariat and planted saplings. The entire program witnessed the participation of the village council representatives, teachers, churches, and other NGOs.

ADC Tiamern Chang who chaired the function said the fruits of the tree plantation would be reaped in the future and the program would create awareness among the people.
