
On 26th March, four graduating designer students of The Global Open University Nagaland (TGOUN), Department of Fashion Technology, will be showcasing their designs at Molu Ki, Paramedical, Kohima. Trendz-O-Mania is the third Annual Fashion Show cum graduation of the TGOUN to display the hard work and creative talents of the graduating students. The students are judged on the basis of their presentation, themes, quality of fabric, creativity, style and market savvy. The four graduating designers are Theja Sekhose, Moarenla Tzudir, Pete Sophie, and Rosy Kent.
Theja Sekhose, whose design theme is ‘Regal Spell’ describes his design as high-fashion winter collection of glamour and posh living party wear. Moarenla Tzudir’s design theme ‘Desi Aquatic’ is on summer street wear on aquatic colors with a blending of desi prints on Western silhouettes. Pete Sophie describes her over all collection of evening party wear ‘Eclipse Persona’ as the human personality between good and evil. Rosy Kent’s collection ‘Spring in Tollywood’ will reveal an element of spring season, music and traditional wear of South India.
“Nagaland is a very fashionable state, but people are not aware of the scope of fashion. In four or five years, the fashion industry will be one of the most progressive industries.” said Rosou Rhi, faculty member.
Chekrovolu Swuro, first female Naga Olympian and recipient of Arjuna Award 2013 will make a special appearance at the show with Kuzholuzo Nienu, Minister Roads & Bridges as the Man of the Event. The judges are Theja Haralu, Modovina Mocha and Kuthonulu S Venuh.
The department of Fashion Technology was established in 2009 and offers Bachelor of Business Administration in Fashion Design and six months certificate course on basic garment construction and surface ornamentation in fabric. Tickets are available at the TGOUN Kohima office and at the venue and are rated Rs. 1000 for two with special gift packages.
