More than 50 products got selected for empanelment during the Tribal Artisans Mela held on 12 and 13 May at Town Hall, Mokokchung organised by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of Indian (TRIFED).
The items selected for empanelment included food items, metal crafts, cane and bamboo, jewellery, gift and novelties, textiles , terracotta & stone potteries , painting, organics and natural products. The selected products for empanelment will be taken as samples and will be assessed and subsequently, more orders of the same product will be made from the artisans. The objective was providing bigger platform for the artists from the tribal communities.
The participating Artisans were from Cooperative sectors, Self-Help Groups and individuals.
TAM is held as part of implementation of a new scheme, "marketing and logistics development for promoting Tribal Artisans from the North eastern region (PTP-NER).TRIFED is a national level cooperative society mandated with marketing and developing of tribal products with objectives of Tribal communities ' social economic development.
