
Wokha, April 30 (MExN): Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited, Ministry of Tribal Affairs GOI, will be hosting two-day Tribal Artisan Mela in Wokha district on May 9 and 10.
A meeting was conducted with NGO, Civil societies, Entrepreneurs Association, Chamber of Commerce and Industries Wokha, Eloe Hoho and Village council Chairman at the Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Wokha on April 29 to chalk out modalities for the smooth conduct of the mela.
A DIPR report stated here that Skill Development Officer, Wokha Anuranjan Singh highlighting the participants about aims and objectives of the mela, said, ‘it is focused to identify new artisans and new products at the sourcing level in states/districts/villages for expanding the tribal producers' base, to highlight the art creatures and products of tribal origins of different communities of Northeastern states and to empower individuals to become self-employed.’
Artisans can exhibit the following items during the mela, textiles and Handloom, metal crafts, jewelry, organic food, and paintings. He also added that any Individuals (ST)/SHGs/Societies/FPOs with sufficient SAMPLES of the products so that the selection committee can select the Items/Products and bring them within the ambit of the Supply Chain of Tribes India.
After the selection process, the products can be put in retail outlets, and exhibitions of products will also be done and later put up in the E-commerce portal.
This collaboration will go a long way in promoting tribal products and strengthening livelihood opportunities for tribal artisans of the district and the entire North Eastern Region added Anuranjan. Artisans have been requested to produce the following documents for registration, ST Certificate, Aadhar card, PAN card, Bank Passbook, and Passport photo.
