Sanphure, May 23 (MExN): The ‘Tribal Resilience Initiative for Building Environmentally Sustainable Livelihood (TRIBES)’ project for Longmatra Block and supported by NABARD was inaugurated on May 21.

It was inaugurated by P Bulte, General Manager, NABARD, Nagaland Regional office at a function held at Sanphure village. Speaking on the occasion, Bulte highlighted a comprehensive overview of the project’s norms, implementation process, and long-term objectives.

The project will be implemented through partner agency North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) in Sanphure, Tutheze, Pongren and Tsongpong villages under Longmatra block, Kiphire district.

Tiarenba Imsong, Programme officer (NEIDA) gave a brief overview of the project.

The event marked a significant step towards sustainable agricultural development and livelihood improvement for farmers in the region.

Deputy Commissioner Kiphire Temsuwati Longkumer graced the occasion as the special guest. He emphasized the importance of agricultural progress and farmer empowerment.

Sentinungba, District Horticulture Officer, Kiphire, encouraged farmers to take full advantage of the project. He emphasized the potential for value addition and future opportunities in crop processing and agribusiness and encouraged farmers to reach out to the department in times of need for advice and material inputs.

Representative from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kiphire spoke on the relevance of technology-driven cultivation methods. The programme was also attended by Dr Imsunaro (AGM), Imkongyanger Imchen (DDM), Department office, Banks, NEIDA representatives, Village Council leaders’ members, farmers and SHG representatives.
