The Trojans Club Zunheboto has organised a two-day futsal tournament at Kawoto Futsal Ground to promote the sport and encourage youth participation in football across the district and neighbouring areas.

Established in 2017 with the motto “Sporting cum Social Welfare Activities,” the club kicked off the event on June 27. A total of 16 teams from Zunheboto and subdivisions such as Satakha, Akuluto, Atoizu, Awotsakili, and Usutomi are participating.

Speaking at the event, Hokato Yepthomi, President of Trojans Club, said the tournament was being held not for profit but to provide a platform for young players to compete and develop their skills. “We are doing what we can within our means. This is for the development of the sport and our youth,” he said.

The opening programme was graced and dedicated by Pastor Hoketo Yeptho of Police Baptist Church.

Matches are being officiated by the Zunheboto District Football Referee Association (ZDFRA), ensuring strict adherence to futsal rules.

While the Kawoto Futsal Ground currently lacks a power generator, the organisers said they had sought assistance from the power department. Matches on the opening day continued successfully till 8:30 pm, and the club expressed gratitude to the department for its support.

Apart from sports, the Trojans Club also engages in social welfare. In 2024, it extended support to households affected by the Alahuto landslide, reaffirming its commitment to community service.

The tournament concluded with Champion Zunheboto District Football Association and runners-up Strikers Legacy Club.
