Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): A sand loaded tipper truck (10-wheeler) parked at Lahorijan Sunday market was hijacked on gunpoint by miscreants after threatening the driver and handyman on May 20 between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm, according to a press release from Anil Toppo, President, Karbi Anglong-Dimapur Transporter Association (KADTA).

The release said that the miscreants, including Augustine Kramsa, took away the vehicle (NL 07 A 6571) and till date its whereabouts is not known. The vehicle has been reportedly taken away by the miscreants for not paying money demanded at the Weighbridge and the Karbi Anglong Truck Owners Welfare Association, it added.

The Karbi Anglong-Dimapur Transporters Association has requested Diphu police to trace out the vehicle and book the people involved in the crime at the earliest. Further, it requested Diphu SP and district administration of Karbi Anglong to enquire who had issued the authorization of illegal collection to the said Weighbridge and KATOWA. Failing to do so, KADTA warned, it will initiate “chakka jam” on NH-36 and 39 respectively.
