2nd Batch (FY 2021-22), comprising of 25 police officers in the rank of SDPOs, ACP, Assistant Commandants Dy SP and INSPs completed the course for investigators on women’s safety organized by Nagaland Police Training School under the aegis of BPR&D.
Chümoukedima, February 12 (MExN): “Traditionally, Naga men are taught to be true warriors to defend what we hold dear,” said the DGP of Nagaland, T John Longkumer, IPS and added, “one quote will resonate and describe the noble duty that defines us, ‘A true Naga warrior will defend and ensure the safety of the women he holds dear, mother, sisters and daughters.’”
“Apply this principle to all women who cries out for our help and I assure you Naga women will need have no fear anymore,” he urged while addressing as the chief guest of the valedictory programme of the 2nd Batch (FY 2021-22) at the NPTS Multi Purpose Hall, Chümoukedima on February 11.
He made a call to ensure women’s safety in our own homes and offices first.
A press release received here stated that the 2nd Batch (FY 2021-22), comprising of 25 police officers in the rank of SDPOs, ACP, Assistant Commandants Dy SP and INSPs completed the course for investigators on women’s safety organized by Nagaland Police Training School (NPTS) under the aegis of BPR&D. It was conducted at NPTS, Chümoukedima from February 7 to 11.
The DGP also said that apart from the legal processes of investigation on women's safety, “we need to be aware of the physical and mental issues of the victims of abuse.” He said, “We need to empathize and take that extra step to make them feel safe and secure under our wings. We must practice what we preach, so we must begin within the Police Department itself.”
Meanwhile, the DGP handed out the passing out certificates. He also stated that “this category will be kept in mind for the award of DGP Commendation Disc in the future.”
The programme was chaired by Thungrhoni Kikon, NPS, Asst Principal NPTS; welcome address was given by I Meren Chenth, NPS, Vice Principal, NPTS and speech on behalf of behalf of participants was by Chuba Chang, NPS, SDPO, Mokokchung.
