Tuensang, June 19 (MExN): Tsarü Baptist Church under Tuensang district recently concluded its centenary celebration.
Rev. C Lima, Executive Secretary, United Sangtam Baptist Lithroti Ashimükhung (USBLA) unveiled the centenary monolith on June 14 at the Centenary Park.
Lithrongla G Chishi (IAS), Secretary & Commissioner at the celebration emphasized on the need to conserve the environment and to make use of the rich natural resources at our disposal to maximize income generation, according to a press release from Media & Documentation Team, Tsarü Baptist Church Centenary.
K Supong, pastor, Longsa Baptist Arogo and N Bendang, retired Secretary, PHED also addressed the gathering. The latter, who is the son of a former pastor of Tsarü, and his family also presented gifts to the oldest woman and man.
Rev. I. Apila, Executive Secretary, TNBA speaking on ‘You are the light of the world’ meanwhile noted, “In a broken world, we are called to be healers. Light is a symbol of hope, of truth and of life itself.”
As part of the celebration, Sangtam Naga Children Bible was unveiled by Rev. Dr. ZK Rochill, Sr. Auxiliary Secretary, BSI Dimapur on June 14. He said USBLA is the sixth tribe in Nagaland to have children Bible for which he congratulated the association.
Speaking on the theme ‘Jesus, the light of the world’, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary NBCC said, Tsarü being the first community to celebrate 100 years of Christianity in the ENPO area is like a hotspot for the area. “But hotspot cannot be connected without a password,” he was quoted as saying. Keyho therefore urged the community to pass on the password (light) to others so as to ignite the unlit souls.
K. Asüngba Sangtam, ex MP Lok Sabha and K Yonghopi Sangtam, president, USLP also exhorted the gathering. Tsarü fellowships of Mokokchung, Tuensang, Dimapur and Chare Town presented special songs on June 14.
Rev. Dr. T Yanger, Convener, Planning Committee on behalf of the community has thanked all the speakers, ordained ministers and churches under USBLA, other church associations, delegates, special invitees, neighboring villages, in-laws and well-wishers for making the celebration a success.
