KOHIMA, DECEMBER 8 (MExN): Tsiemekhuma Sub-Centre under the Department of Health and Family Welfare in Chiephobozou Block, Kohima District, was formally inaugurated on December 7. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Leamnyei Konyak, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kohima, as the special guest, alongside other dignitaries including Deputy CMO Dr. Imchatoshi, District Vector-Borne Officer/ District Surveillance Officer (DVBO/DSO) Dr. Kevilhulie Meyase, District Program Officer (RCH/UIP) Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro, and healthcare representatives from Chiephobozou and Botsa.
The event began with a dedicatory prayer by Pastor Peteneilhou Rüpreo. A formal function held at the Village Council premises was chaired by Deputy CMO Dr. Imchatoshi. Village Council Chairman Mereise delivered the welcome address, followed by cultural performances, including a folk song and a special number by the Women Society and BKK of Tsiemekhuma village.
Key speakers highlighted the significance of health initiatives. Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro spoke on the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), while Dr. Kevilhulie Meyase emphasized the impact of climate change on health systems and the need to combat vector-borne diseases.
CMO Dr. Leamnyei Konyak addressed the gathering, urging the community to actively participate in supporting the sub-centre. “Community participation is crucial for enhancing health services. Together, we can ensure sustainable and accessible healthcare,” he stated.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ropfükolhou Dolie, Medical Officer of Botsa PHC.
