The Tsieyama Nuolhou Kehou (Tsieyama Khel under Jotsoma) today celebrated its 50th years of existence under the theme “Noupuo Kropuo” at Jotsoma village council hall.
Tsieyama Nuolhou Kehou was formed in 1975.
Addressing the gathering, Khunyü Rino, former PA to DC Kohima and former chairman Tsieyama khel said “Our forefathers, through their wisdom had made friends with various communities and villages, both neighbouring and afar.
He said that even in times of war “we have befriended each other, helped, supported and have maintained cordial relations from time immemorial.”
“We swore to defend each other and likewise we have heard of stories where we protected each other during war times,” he said, adding that though Tsieyama might be a small Khel, “friendship and good wish is something we proud about.”
However, Rino regretted that “we are at a crossroad where the present generation is losing touch with our past and therefore through this celebration we want to let the cordial relations be renewed and revitalised with you all and also let our children know the friendship we have with you all.”
Seyielhuzo Medoze, former general secretary Jotsoma village council thanked all the friendly communities and villages that have come forward to be part of the celebration.
We have to revisit the roots and ways we have built our relations and help preserve it through records, he said.
Speaking on behalf of the younger generations, Visako Rino, councillor Medziphema Town Council said “We are the connecting point and today is our time to learn our stories, ask from your elders. We also have to preserve our language- Tenyidie. While being proud of our past, we should also preserve and pass it on to the future generations, he added.
Earlier, the golden jubilee monolith stone was dedicated by Rev Fr Dr Pezalhoukho George Rino.
Organising committee convenor Neivikolie Medoze delivered welcome address while Pekruyabi Rino pastor CRC Jotsoma prayed for the programme. The programme was led by Thepfiisalhu Rino.
Elderly blessing was pronounced by Toulevi Rino while Tsieyama khel chairman Lhusiewhelie Sano led hoisting of flag.
