Dimapur, October 30 (MExN): The Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) has extended support to the demands of SSA teachers and CSS Hindi Teachers for early release of their pending salary.
Considering that the SSA teachers have been denied their salary for more than five months and the CSS Hindi teachers unpaid for more than 8 months, TSUD said that the teachers' phase wise agitation is “justified and deserves utmost importance.”
A press note by TSUD president, Azo Wetsah and general secretary, A. Shyerhunlo Lorin appealed to the department and minister concerned to take the issue with utmost seriousness and ensure the future of the students, which they said, lies in the hands of teachers. The union added that students’ community are worst affected when the teachers do not attend the classes regularly due to non-release of their salary. In view of the forthcoming examination, the TSUD expressed hope that the authority concerned will act for the interest of both the students and teachers community.

The SMC urged the government to address the wellbeing of teachers and accord their rightful place. The SMC also decried the impact of the ongoing agitation on the students' academic performance.
