Tsüngremmung festival celebrated in Longsa village

Longsa, August 1 (MExN): Tsüngremmung, the premiere festival of the Ao Naga was celebrated in a splendid manner at Salang Lenden Longsa village in Mokokchung under the aegis of Tourism Department, Nagaland on August 1.
Special guest Sharingain, MLA & Chairman DPDB addressing the gathering said that “it is a prestigious occasion for the Longsa Medemsanger Putu to host the final celebration under the guidance of the Medemsanger Putu which would be handed down to the upcoming Mejensanger Putu.”
He stated that with the change of time and advancement of technology, people are often swayed by the modern norms and its practices. However, the MLA encouraged the younger generation to practice and preserve the tradition and custom which were practiced by our forefathers.
Alemtemshi Jamir, CEO, IDAN speaking on the significance of Tsüngremmung said that it is the only festival dedicated to God and people in its purest form of honesty and praise, seek the blessing from God. “Tsüngremmung is the reflection of God for farming, climate and the weather which are totally dependent on the supreme power,” Jamir added.
The highlights of the festival were performances by cultural troupe from the host Longsa village and others including Surumi village and Pirahir village.
