Tening, August 4 (MExN): The women folks of Tening town conducted mass social work on July 29 under the aegis of Tening Town Women Welfare Organisation (TTWO).
TTWO President Julia in a press release stated that the social work was necessitated owing to appalling road condition of the town road affecting school children and mothers the most. It stated that during heavy rains, most of the stretches of the town roads turn into a swampy paddy field where school children fear to walk resulting in missing their classes. At the same time, mothers have hard time picking and dropping their children to schools. When the road widening works started in 2013, everyone was happy knowing the fact that something good was being done for the town but it stopped abruptly leaving the roads in pathetic condition.
The TTWO appeals to the Government of Nagaland and the department concerned to immediately complete the road widening project with soiling and metalling lest the coming dry season will again create great inconvenience by producing suffocating dust along the roadside leading to various diseases due to air pollution.
