Dimapur: The Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (TUCT) while lauding the completion of the new DC office at Chumukedima District HQs has requested the competent authority for shifting of the same “since the empty building does not help the public.”
A press release issued by TUCT president Neisalie Losou and its publicity & information secretary Ishmael Newme stated that, two decades ago, the proposal for shifting of Dimapur District Headquarters to Chumukedima was accepted by most of the citizens of Dimapur district as a necessity and a sensible decision.
“The government initiated the project with much fanfare and after some unfortunate hiccups the project has become a reality today. But, to our dismay, it has become apparent that the whole issue is being politicized due to ego clashes and ulterior motives,” it added.
The Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (comprising all Naga tribes residing in and around Chumukedima), according to the note, is of the view that there should be no "ours' or "yours" impression in this matter. “We believe that Dimapur district inhabitants are the most educated, enlightened, well to do and progressive citizen of our state. It is therefore clear to everyone that is a shift to a better place where there is ample parking place, better environment, and scope for expansion and development of Dimapur City and most importantly easier access for citizen residing outside Dimapur,” the note stated.
In light of this, TUCT has appealed to the state government and the Dimapur district administration to “stop delaying and carry out the shifting process immediately so that the forth coming benefits may be granted to the citizen of the district sooner, rather than later.”
