TUCT resolves to implement Clean Election

Chümoukedima, December 1 (MExN): The Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (TUCT) has adopted a resolution to restrain its citizens from asking and accepting cash money from candidates during the forthcoming general election and accordingly implement Clean Election initiated by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC).

In its executive meeting held on November 19 at Chakhroma Public Organization Hall, the union also resolved to have further deliberation in order to find out ways and means to choose a consensus candidate so that “our precious votes are not split, rather honest, God fearing and one who can really bring all round development.”

It further decided that “any kind of demands and taxation during this festive season in the name of National Workers shall not be entertained at any cost since the Nagas had unanimously decided ‘One Government One Tax’ which shall be strictly adhered to,” according to a press release from TUCT general secretary, Bendangwati Sangtam and president, Lhousito Khro. “In the event of any elements trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere within the TUCT jurisdiction, the TUCT which is the apex body shall take any actions which is deem fit and proper.”

Meanwhile, the house resolved to implement in letter and spirit the 10-point resolutions adopted during the Mass Public Rally held on October 5, 2017 “against the menace of IBIs,” the release stated. A copy of the said resolution will be endorsed to all the concerned members and authority for strict implementation and adherence thereon, it added.

The house also resolved to strictly enforce the ban on sale of liquor/alcohol and drug peddlers within TUCT jurisdiction. “The defaulters if found violating the illegal activities shall be strongly dealt with and without showing any leniency,” it warned. In this regard, the union urged the tribal units to warn their respective members to immediately stop such illegal activities if there is any. It also resolved to conduct surprise checking comprising all the TUCT members, Ward GBs and Chairmen and Council members of Chümoukedima Village and Chümoukedima "A" Village.

Further, the house extended gratitude to the Administrator of Chumukedima Town Council and EAC, Thejavizo Nakhro for personally sparing his fund and for supervising in the construction of drainages in the market area.
