Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): Tenyimi Union Dimapur visited the relief camps of Rengma Nagas of Karbi-Anglong, Assam on February 2. The relief committee led by Convenor Vekhosayi (President, Western Chakhesang Hoho) and Secretary Chiru Thuzu (General Secretary, Pochury Hoho Dimapur District) expressed dismay over Assam government and government of India not taking any concrete measures for the thousands of people, mostly women and children.
The Relief Committee through a press release has appealed the authority concerned to rehabilitate them immediately with proper shelter and security, stating they have the fundamental right to live and prosper peacefully. “As the academic session begins those affected children cannot be denied of their fundamental right of free education. They should be in the schools to acquire knowledge not in the relief camps. The concerned authority must take necessary steps for the welfare of these children without anymore delay,” the union asserted.
The committee has also conveyed gratitude to every community leader and member who had extended help, financially and materially to make the relief program a success.
