
Dimapur, April 28 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation (ENPO) have requested the four petroleum retailers and transporters bodies to extend the 48 hours deadline to rescue the two oil tankers abducted near New Helipong village in Tuensang on April 22. The ultimatum addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang was served on April 27 by Kohima Petroleum Dealers Association, Dimapur Petroleum Dealers Association, Nagaland Tanker Transport Association and Oil Tanker Drivers Union. ENPO general secretary Manlang Phom, in a press release made the appeal informing that it will be meeting the Tuensang district administration and police on Sunday, April 29 to discuss on the issue. "The Tuensang DC has requested the involvement of ENPO as the incident falls under our jurisdiction. And as per the request, ENPO will be meeting the district administration and police. Therefore we request the various organisations to extend the deadline served for the convenience of the public," release added.
TCCI appeals for release
Meanwhile, the Tuensang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) has appealed for the release of oil transporters – driver Tula Ram Bura Gohain and his assistant Adman Surin. A press statement from Dorothy Chang, president, TCCI urged to release the victims on humanitarian ground so as not to disturb the peaceful environment in Tuensang in particular and the Naga areas as a whole.
