Tuensang, March 6 (MExN): Development Action Plan Committee (DAPC), an NGO based in Tuensang district, submitted a memorandum to Nagaland Chief Minister calling attention to the lack of developmental activities in the district.
In a press release received on Friday, the Committee’s President N Kaimang Chang and General Secretary S Singkhum Thonger pointed out that the “highly neglected” National Highway 155/202 linking Mokokchung – Longkhim- Chare via Tuensang to Shamator is in “appalling condition,” and said that citizens have been facing “untold miseries” especially in the case of medical emergencies.
“Due to poorly developed road, the fares of passenger (vehicles) as well as fare of goods carrying vehicles have increased considerably,” the release added.
Stating that the Tuensang district’s wait for better road facilities has become a “distant dream,” the Committee questioned why the oldest district in Nagaland has been “left over and ignored in every aspect of development activities comparing to other districts.”
The Committee stated that its several appeals to the concerned department have gone unheeded and thus implored the Chief Minister to “assure the work before financial budget session 2020,” failing which “the joint forum shall be compelled to initiate indefinite road block from March 24.”
