The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, in collaboration with Trinity Academy, hosted a consumer awareness programme on September 25 to promote consumer rights and fair trade practices as part of India’s journey toward “Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The programme, held at Trinity Academy, began with Mercy of Trinity Academy chairing the event. Headmistress Aanen delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of informed consumers in building a developed nation.

C. Chullen Chang, Assistant Controller of the Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LM&CP) Department in Tuensang, presented the keynote speech highlighting the role of legal metrology in ensuring accurate weights and measures in the marketplace. Er. Yemjong BN Chang, Senior Inspector of LM&CP Tuensang, offered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the school and the department’s joint efforts to raise awareness at the community level.

Participants were reminded of their rights under consumer protection laws and encouraged to practice vigilance when buying goods and services. The event concluded with light refreshments.
The awareness programme is part of a nationwide initiative to strengthen consumer education and regulatory compliance in anticipation of India’s centenary of independence in 2047.
