Tuensang DPDB focuses on construction of treatment plant cum dumping ground

Tuensang, September 7 (MExN): The Tuensang District Development and Development Board (DPDB) deliberated on the dumping ground of Tuensang town following the PHED department’s test result which highlighted that the downstream quality of water is not promising for the consumption and needs urgent check.

During the meeting held under the chairmanship of DC and Vice Chairman DPDB, Tuensang, Kumar Ramanikant at DC conference hall on September 7, the proposal from Tuensang Town Council for the construction of treatment plant cum dumping ground to the government of Nagaland was highlighted and decided for pursue for earliest approval.

According to a DIPR report, the meeting discussed the upgradation of Government Middle School Tuensang village to High School for which Education Department, Tuensang was entrusted for verification and detail reports to be submitted to the government for approval. The construction of guest house cum village museum at Tuensang village, construction of District Park at Noksen as proposed by the Noksen Village Council was deliberated and decided to forward it to the Government for approval. The house considered the constitution of SDG Committee for Tuensang district.

Regarding landslide and sinking problem of Phenjan Sector, St John Sector-A Tuensang town which is affecting hundreds of households, the meeting decided that the District administration Tuensang will do spot verification and will submit to Land Resource department, Tuensang for further modalities. The problem of severe network connectivity in Tuensang district was discussed in the house and agreed to write to respective companies for immediate compliance. 

Taking Forward the SDGs 

Meanwhile, the district level workshop on building capacities for Taking Forward the SDGs was held at DC’s Conference Hall, Tuensang on September 3. The workshop chaired by Solumo Ezung, District Planning Officer, Tuensang was attended by DC Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant and concern HoDs of the district. 

The session on SDG localisation and integration focused on Tuensang district was conducted by Abilo Humtsoe, SDG Officer, SDG Co-Ordination Centre, Planning and Co-Ordination Department. Humtsoe shared about the national, state and district level institutional mechanism and strategy for SDG implementation, District indicator frame work for monitoring the SDG and way forward. She also highlighted those indicators (as part of the North East region SDG Index-Baseline Report 2021 to 2022) which require improvement in Tuensang district.

Zitin Munshi, SDG Consultant, SDG Coordination Centre, Planning and Coordination Department conducted the interactive session where the priority areas and viable local level solutions for Tuensang district for all the relevant departments were discussed. In his concluding remarks, the DC Tuensang reiterated the SDGs are very important for the district therefore, all department should come together to help achieve the goals.
