Tuensang, August 22 (MExN): The Tuensang District Task Force (DTF) for COVID-19 held a meeting with state level monitoring team for Tuensang led by DUDA Secretary Anden Konyak and Joint Director, Directorate Health & Family Welfare, Dr Ahu Sekhose at DC’s Conference Hall, Tuensang on August 21.

 The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson Tuensang DTF Kumar Ramnikant.

Speaking at the meeting, Anden Konyak said the team is a link between the District Task Force and the State War Room and the common agenda is to save lives from the pandemic by creating awareness among the populace. He encouraged the communities and its leaders to give their best towards containing the pandemic and bring the figures down to zero. 

Konyak said that if the third wave strikes, it would probably strike the younger generation since they are not vaccinated, and urged everyone to be vigilant in containing the spread of the pandemic. He also appreciated stakeholders who have been tirelessly working against COVID. 

Dr Ahu Sekhose commented on the efficient way of handling COVID in the district. He was of the view that the NGOs and community involvement in testing and vaccination drives along with the DTF and Medical department is encouraging and an exemplary one. 

Earlier in the meeting, Nodal Officer for COVID Tuensang Dr John shared statistics related COVID status updates of Tuensang district. Executive Secretary of CBLT, Rev Achu Chang highlighted on the success of extensive vaccination drives in the rural areas and appreciated the contributions of the district DTF, ECS, and HODs. He also gave a picture on the second extensive vaccination drive to be conducted from August 23 onwards.

District Hospital Tuensang also updated its status about COVID hospital and workforce. Additionally, the Tuensang DC apprised the team about the network connectivity which will have a chain connection between District hospital and all CHCs of the district. Eleutheros Christian Society, an NGO of Tuensang which is taking active participation in Tuensang in the COVID fight highlighted the target set on 108 villages for extensive vaccination drive in the 2nd round where Associate Director ECS, Chongshen Soted said that it plans to conduct vaccination drive on a head count basis in the villages. 

SP Tuensang Amit Nigam highlighted on the law enforcing activities during the pandemic lockdown period and appreciated the public for cooperation during the phase. He also said that DEF Tuensang Forces are also cent percent vaccinated leaving aside only few who are medically ineligible.  

After the meeting, the team along with the DTF members visited the BSL-II Lab Tuensang and the recently established oxygen plant at District Hospital, Tuensang after which they visited PHC, Longphang. The team is also scheduled to visit PHC Kuthor, CHC Shamator, PHC Longkhim and PHC Chari.
