Tuensang-Mon road link restored

Kohima, August 2 (MExN): The crucial road link between Tuensang and Mon has been successfully restored on August 2  by HQ Project Sewak, Border Roads Organisation.

The road had suffered extensive damage due to a massive landslide triggered by incessant rain near Thimlak Village at KM 18.050 on July 16, informed the State DIPR.

The landslide resulted in the collapse of the existing Bailey Bridge at the location, causing it to fall into the Aoyoung River and effectively cutting off road connectivity, it said.

In this connection, the  the 100 Road Construction Company of the 15 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under Project Sewak took immediate action and a temporary bamboo bridge was constructed on July 18 to facilitate pedestrian traffic through the area, it added.

Thereafter, on August 1, a 110-foot Bailey Bridge was inaugurated.
