Tuensang: Nyaklangbou Sector Union celebrates silver jubilee

Nyaklangbou Sector Union (NSU) in Tuensang town gathered at the Assembly Hall of Holy Angel School on May 8 to mark the celebration of their silver jubilee. The event welcomed P Bashang Chang, Minister of NPWD (Housing and Mechanical) Government of Nagaland, as the special guest.

During his address, Minister Chang highlighted the significance of the occasion, urging attendees to reflect on the contributions of past leaders in shaping the union. He expressed gratitude to both past and present leaders for their dedication and sacrifices in organizing the jubilee celebration.

Drawing from his personal connection to the sector, Minister Chang emphasised the importance of setting an example for fellow citizens, referring to NSU members as 'torch bearers'. He recalled the illustrious history of the sector, noting its reputation for producing great leaders and successful individuals, and encouraged unity among its residents.

The programme, chaired by CS Aman and E Saotola, featured various segments including a welcome address by C Saku, Convenor of the Planning Committee, and a song presentation by Nyaklangbou Sao Shuong Thangjam (NSST) led by B Sungmo and Yakching.

Short speeches were delivered by community representatives including Koma Yangbou from the Village Council Chongpho Citizens’, K Imjong, President of St. John B Ward, T. Namang, President of Nyaklangbou B, N Namang, former chairman of NSU, and N Khoni, Advisor of NSU.

Rev H Sangkap, Pastor of Tuensang Town Baptist Lashong, led a moment of prayer to honour the departed and shared a message of hope and freedom, emphasizing the importance of bringing peace to those in despair.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by H Soyen, President of NSU, and a benediction prayer by mass, following an invocation by E Alep, President, NSST.
