A vehicle ferrying security personnel and a polling official met with an accident in Tuensang early Wednesday morning killing one and leaving five others seriously injured. According to the Tuensang Superintendent of Police, Neiba Newmai, the vehicle – a Bolero pickup – skidded off the road to a sheer drop of around 1000 feet some 8kms from Tuensang District HQ. The vehicle, it was informed, was ferrying the polling official and 9 Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel following completion of polling process at Thonokyu constituency. The deceased SSB personnel was identified as Atul KR Singh. Four other SSB personnel and a polling official also sustained serious injuries. While the latter was airlifted to Dimapur, the four SSB personnel were airlifted to Jorhat, the SP informed.
