
TUENSANG, OCTOBER 9 (MExN): In a significant breakthrough, the Tuensang Police successfully solved the complex murder case involving the death of police personnel ABC Soyimkumba Ao. After nearly three months of rigorous investigation, the case, which initially had no leads, was cracked under the leadership of OC PS Tuensang, I/O UBSI Yongkongtoshi, with crucial support from ASI Putiyanger, I/C Cyber Cell Tuensang, a press release PRO Tuensang informed.
The case began on July 13, 2024, when Soyimkumba Ao's wife filed a Missing Person Report. Despite the initial challenges, a joint search operation involving the Tuensang Police, Village Guards, and neighboring communities was launched. Tragically, on July 19, 2024, the missing officer's body was discovered in a partially decomposed state, hanging from a wooden beam in a farm approximately 5 kilometers from Tuensang town, the press release stated.
Through meticulous investigation, the Tuensang Police identified five suspects- Lumkhalong (35), Litsachem (36), Thepise (42), Chempise (42), and Chaanglemba (42). They admitted to abducting and assaulting Lt. Soyimkumba Ao over a financial dispute, which ultimately led to his death. The investigation revealed that the accused attempted to stage the murder as a suicide by hanging the body.
Further investigations are ongoing, with the police following all legal procedures to ensure a fair trial for the accused, the press release added.
