Tuensang, July 4 (MExN): A meeting of District Task Force for Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) was held on July 4 in Tuensang.
Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, L. Jamithung Lotha, who chaired the meeting, said measles, which is infectious, is not new to the people and it kills many infants and young children. He asked all concerned to come forward and create awareness among the general public.
During the meeting, DPO (RCH-UIP) from Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office, Tuensang, Dr. Tungchanpeni highlighted on Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign, which will be launched in the state of Nagaland on October 3.
According to a DIPR report, the aim of the campaign is to eliminate the measles-rubella diseases, targeting children from 9 months to below 15 years in a phase manner in a period of two to three years. Along with the WHO-Southeast countries, India also resolved to eliminate measles and control congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) by 2020.
Dr. Tungchanpeni also urged all concerned departments, churches, educational institutions and parents to help the Medical department in order to achieve a successful MRV Campaign.
DCMO Tuensang, Dr. Temsu Longchar and VPD Surveillance from WHO- India, Dr. Arun Kumar also spoke in the meeting.
