Tuensang: Sao Chang College students visit research laboratory in District Hospital

Botany Department of Sao Chang College, Tuensang, paid a visit to the District Hospital, Tuensang Integrated Molecular Diagnostic and Research Laboratory on October 28.

Tuensang, October 28 (MExN): The Botany Department of Sao Chang College, Tuensang, paid a visit to the District Hospital, Tuensang Integrated Molecular Diagnostic and Research Laboratory (BSL 2) on October 28. A group of eight Bio Chem students accompanied by four Assistant Professors from Botany and Zoology Department participated in the visit.

Dr Mohan Sharma (Microbiologist) gave a brief insight about the establishment of the Laboratory and also expresses that collaboration can be done for such kind of trainings to the students and faculty, followed which the students were divide into two groups. 

The programme was divide into two session which was led  by Dr Mohan Sharma (Microbiologist) and supporting Technician. During the first session, the students were given a tour to all the Laboratories where they learned about thevarious equipments that were utilized during the pandemic period and also the protocols to be followed. Additionally students also learned about the personal protection and good lab practices. 

Theory and hands on were provided on Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Technique, Gel Electrophoresis, Enyzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Spectrophotometry (Nanodrops), Chromatography Technique (TLC & Column) and Real Time PCR (RT-PCR) were given theory as well as hands on.
