Tuensang: Students paint and write on biodiversity

TUENSANG, JUNE 5 (MExN): The Divisional Forest Office, Tuensang Division organised an online essay and painting competition on the occasion of World Environment Day 2020 under the theme ‘Biodiversity.’


Many school students from Tuensang participated in the competition and submitted their entries online. The three best entries for the essay and painting competitions along with two consolation prizes from Junior and Senior categories were selected.


The prizes were given away by AjitVerma IAS, ADC Tuensang and DrPritpalVerma IPS, SDPO Tuensang on June 5 at the Divisional Forest Office Tuensang.


The program started with a welcome note by Dr C ZupeniTsanglai IFS, DFO Tuensang followed by prize distribution of the essay writing and painting competitions held online.


AjitVerma spoke on the need to conserve the environment and also highlighted the effects of global warming. 
Meanwhile, DrPritpalKaur encouraged the students to value the importance of biodiversity.


The programme was chaired by DzuthovitoLcho, Range Officer, Tuensang and vote of thanks was delivered by Betikumla, DMU staff.


After the programme, there was a ceremonial planting of saplings by the ADC, SDPO, DFO and Range Officer, Tuensang.
