
Dimapur, April 19 (MExN): The RMSA Tuensang Unit today extended its support to the ongoing “phase wise stir” by the RMSA Central Forum and expressed its full co-operation “till the fulfillment of demands by the department concern.”
Following the failure of the government to pay their salary for six months, the Nagaland Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NRMSATA) had initiated a three day boycott of classes starting from April 17 to 19 as part of its first phase agitation. The delay in the payment of salary affects more than 1000 teachers in Nagaland State’s government schools.
A press note from the Unit Convenor Nato Y. Chang and General Secretary Temsumenla informed that the first phase agitation of boycotting the classes was successfully carried out in Tuensang.
Many high schools were badly affected as most of the high schools are functioning only with RMSA subject teachers, it said.
The district unit also accused that government and concerned department for adopting a “total lackadaisical attitude” towards fulfilling the genuine demand Central Forum.
“The step-motherly treatment towards the CSS teachers has become an unusual diplomacy of the state government,” it said.
Meanwhile, the unit further reminded the higher authorities to immediately address to the demands of the RMSA teachers stating that in case of non-fulfillment of its demands, the forum might be compelled to “endorse more aggressive steps and the department shall be solely held responsible.”
The unit also asked the members to be fully prepared for the upcoming phase stir and requested all the right thinking stake holders to “come forward in support in order to stop further provocation in the education system.”
