The descendants of Tuophema village today celebrated 13th Hutuophezou Day at Tuophema village with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the guest speaker.
Speaking on the occasion, Rio called upon the gathering of all diaspora of Tuophema village to strengthen the bond of affection, friendliness, unity and peace and work in unison for the common welfare.
He called upon the people of Tuophema elsewhere to stay united and uphold the dignity of Tuophemia.
Hutuophezou Day is an event held once in every five years. It is an occasion of get-together as well as census enumeration of the descendants of Tuophema village.
All the diaspora of Tuophema village particularly from Razhaphe, Razhaphe Basa, Tuophe Phezou and Botsa villages, from Kohima and Dimapur turned up at the celebration.
Rio, who also hails from Tuophema village, maintained that the descendants of Tuophema village witnessed sea of change over the years in the area of socio-economic, education and spiritual through the blessings of God.
He sought collective effort and contribution from oldest to youngest persons for building a progressive future.
Urging the people to be law abiding citizen, chief minister also stressed on the need to pay due respect to elders and parents and also asked them to always seek their wisdom and blessings to progress further.
On education sector, he stressed on need to lay a strong foundation at the grassroot level.
He said that education does not only represent how to read and write but to get acquainted with the latest development to par with the competitive world.
In this, he called upon the educated youth to go for coaching and career guidance to excel in the competitive exams.
Earlier, Tuophema village council chairman Pfuduolhou Kense highlighted the significance of Tuophemia Day while Solhicha Kense pronounced elderly blessings.
The programme was chaired by Thepfuneituo Rio while Tuophema village council advisor Phrenyiimo Seyie delivered welcome address. Vote of thanks proposed by Keduo-u Zumu, president Tuophezou Dzevi Krotho.
