Tuophema Village celebrates Sekrenyi festival

Community participates in the 'Sekrenyi' festival celebration held at amphitheatre, Tuophema village on February 27.

Kohima, February 28 (MExN): Tuophema village under the aegis of its village council celebrated 'Sekrenyi' festival of purification with fanfare on February 27 at the amphitheatre, Tuophema village.

Gracing the celebration as the special guest, Thepfuneituo Rio, a contractor has stressed on unity among the villagers and obedience to its leaders and elders.

Forgiveness, he said is the key to peace, harmony and happiness among the people, and urged the people to absolve the wrongs of others.

Rio was of the view that the village is blessed in many ways than any other villages, and urged the people to continue to maintain the good values of unity, brotherhood and cleanliness. The festival also saw competition of folk songs among the khels, which was keenly participated by men and women.

Both foreign and domestic tourists were seen revelling in the colourful traditional attires and folk songs presented by the villagers.

Tati Group Enterprise organised the Sekrenyi concert in the evening featuring renowned artistes like LC Sekhose, The Cotton County, Lapla, Jojo etc. The concert was hosted by Ruopfuzhano Whiso.
