With the support of believers for the last 25 years, Gospel Mission Field Centre, a joint venture project of Chakhesang Baptist Church, Minister’s Hill, Kohima (CBC, MHK), and Chakhesang Mission Society (CMS), an English Model School known as Tutsa Model School (TMS) which is based in Tutsa was established in the year 2005, at New Lainwang Village. Tutsa, is a major tribe under Tirap District, of Arunachal Pradesh (a Naga dominated land).

With approximate stretch of 40 Kms, from the nearest Sub-Division Khongsa, to Tutsa Mission field centre, under Tirap district, it reportedly takes almost four hours, accompanied with horrible road conditions.

Tutsa, is a tribe from among four Naga tribes in Arunachal Pradesh from the two district of Tirap, and Changlang which is located bordering Myanmar and China. According to reliable source, it was learnt that except for Tutsa tribe, all other three tribes were evangelised by the Aos from Nagaland, where Aos reportedly served as pastors’ evangelists, and teachers and even established school for the tribe.

Tutsa community which has 47 villages, within a span of eight years since 2005, after establishing of Tutsa Model School, at New Lainwang Village, Christianity was evangelised almost in 24 villages with Old Lainwang village on the verge of completion of CC Church Building. Amazingly, before the CBC, MHK mission entered their land, Tutsa which had two regions upper and lower Tutsa were living in an animistic world - worshipping big trees, stones and nature.

The first Tutsa Christian convert in the year 1990, Raplong Kamlong of Old Lainwang village, who is also presently working as Bible translator, attended the 25th Anniversary of CBC, MHK Mission Department at Chakhesang Baptist Church, Minister’s Hill, Kohima on March 17 and 18 expressed his profound gratitude to the Chakhesangs for saving Tutsas from clutches of evil. He also said that the tribe anticipates more of almighty miracle blessings even in the near future.

Having a population of approximately 25,000, the people of Tutsa were in many ways under-developed, where people were still traditionally governed by their respective ‘Rajas’ (Kings). Mention may be made that the present plot of land commissioning as Mission Field Centre was donated by the Raja of New Lainwang. Learnt from reliable sources, Raja of New Lainwang village was reportedly conveying his desire for the Mission Field staff to pray for him and his family. It is also reported that the Raja himself is battling with the idea to convert to Christianity.

Besides the school, a hostel for both boys and girls were constructed and sheltering the students with care and love. Meanwhile, Tutsa Baptist Church Council (TBCC) Executive Secretary residential place was also constructed in the year 2005 by the combine sponsorship of CBC, MHK and CMS.

Following the Chakhesang legislators visit at Tutsa during TMS foundation Day on November 15, 2011 led by Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu and local MLA Kamthok Luwang, alongwith Tirap DC joined the Nagaland VIP. MLA Kamthok donated 8lakhs from his LADF for the electrification of the Tutsa Mission Field Centre.

The visioning project was reported to have pursued upon successfully under the guidance of Dr. Vevo Phesao, pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers’ Hill, Kohima.
