The 5th Triennial Session of the Tuensang Village Students’ Union (TVSU) is underway at Sejung Ground, Tuensang Village, and will conclude on January 7 under the theme “Dunamis.”
The event features MLA Lima Onen Chang; MLA and Chairman, DPBD Longleng, A Pongshi Phom; and Alem Bin, Special Transport Officer, as special guests, with Rev Dr Wongto Chingmak, Pastor, Chang Baptist Church, Dimapur, serving as the speaker.
The session commenced on January 5 with the Triennial General Session (Article II) held at the Old Church Building, Tuensang Village.
The proceedings opened with an invocation by B Akhu, deacon of Tuensang Sand Baptist Lashong (TSBL), followed by the presidential address.
Departmental reports were presented by the general secretary, executive secretary, games and sports secretary, social and cultural secretary, property secretary, women coordinator, library secretary, and educational and statistical secretary. The audit report was also tabled.
The house deliberated on the agenda, including the renewal and amendment of the union’s constitution, before the session concluded with a mass benediction.
Later the same day, the Introductory Session was held, with a keynote address by TVSU President I Tochi Imlong outlining the vision and objectives of the union. An obituary reference was made by T Mongba of TSBL.
Short speeches were delivered by Antitola, Vice Principal of PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School, Thangjam, and N Kaimang, President of the Tuensang Village Citizens’ Union. The session also featured a musical presentation by a children’s choir.
A Cultural Fiesta on January 6 was a key highlight of the ongoing session.
The gist of the fiesta was presented by TVSU Advisor Naset Yemjong, while short speeches were delivered by Chang Khulei Setshang President NY Choba and Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation President A Chingmak Chang.
Cultural performances included a folk song by the TVSU cultural troupe, bamboo mouth organ (Kongkin), lullaby (Nanonbü), unison chant (Odang Onet), and log drum performance (Dongsen).
Solidarity messages were delivered by the presidents of the Kohima Village Students’ Union and Chimonger Village Students’ Union.
MLA Pongshi attended the cultural programme as a special guest, while MLA Imtichoba Chang hosted the event.
The ongoing session has drawn participation from student leaders, village organisations, church representatives, and invited guests, with deliberations centred on student welfare, organisational strengthening, and the preservation of cultural identity.
