Two farmers working with Cono weeder at their SRI Field in Chiephobozou, Kohima. According to report, the SDAO Chiephobozou establishment is undertaking a System of Rice Intensification (SRI) with paddy hybrid MTU1010 under National Food Security Mission (NFSM) at various villages. One such is at Nerhe Model which is performing well. The farmers are trained from nursery seedbed preparation with banana pseudo stem to transplanting into the paddy field. Thereafter, Cono weeder usages are taught for weeding purpose. The four main components of SRI viz soil fertility management, planting method, weed control and water irrigation management are put into practice for better crop yields.
