Newmai News Network Aizawl | October 15 Acting on tip off, Mizoram police seized 306.64 grams of heroin from two motor bike borne Myanmarese nationals between Zobawk and Mat bridge in Lunglei district of Mizoram on Friday night. The Myanmarese were arrested immediately. Police sources said that after receiving specific information, Lunglei Additional SP J.Lalmuankima, Tlabung SDPO K. Beihmotaosa, Assistant Commandant of 2nd MAP Lalengliana along with CID personnel carried out operation between Zobawk and Mat bridge and inspected vehicles on Friday night. During the operation, police intercepted a motor cycle coming from Mat bridge and recovered 306.64 grams of heroin from the motor bike. Lalrinmawia, (24), s/o Vanneihpianga and Lalfakawma, (34), s/o Vanhnuailiana, both residents of Hmawngkawn village in Myanmar were arrested in connection with the seizure. The contraband was worth Rs 12 lakh in the local market. The two Myanmarese were booked under relevant section of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and Foreigner’s Act. They were produced before court on Saturday and sent to district jail the same day, the police sources said. The two accused said that the contraband was smuggled from Champhai to be delivered to one Muani of Lunglei.
