Two individuals from Kenchenshu village in Mon district lost their lives, reportedly due to attacks by a wild boar, which was subsequently killed.

The chairman of the Kenchenshu Village Council stated that the boar was killed on October 7 following a search and hunt operation carried out by villagers from Kenchenshu and nearby areas.

The first attack occurred on October 1, when a young villager was injured by the boar. He was rushed to Mon District Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

The following day, villagers went to the site to track the boar’s movements when a second attack took place, resulting in the immediate death of another villager.

The mortal remains of both victims were brought back to the village on the same day, and their funerals were held together on October 2, the chairman informed.

The incidents caused widespread concern among residents of Kenchenshu and surrounding villages, prompting the community to organise the search and hunt operation for the boar

Consequently, on October 7, the boar was killed, brought back to the village, and disposed of, he added.

A report on the incidents was filed with Angjangyang Police Station, the chairman said.

Another villager corroborated the chairman’s account, although there were slight discrepancies in the dates of the attacks
