Wokha, February 18 (MExN): Two major road projects under 37 Assembly Constituency, Wokha Town to N/Longidang (Nyiro Range) upgradation road and Yikhum Village circular road in Englan range under Wokha district, were inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton incharge of PWD (R&B) on February 189.
A press release from the Media Cell, Dy CM stated that during the inauguration of N/Longidang (Nyiro Range) road, Patton said that the road will now become a lifeline for the people of Nyiro range and even neighboring district Zunheboto as envisioned, as and when the bridge construction connecting the two districts is inaugurated in a month or two.
He said that the bridge construction which is heading completion connecting Old Shena and Longidang will now become a business and a commercial road.
The road project for N/Longidang, Nyiro Range road up-gradation was done through, under NESIDS (DONER), Government of India while the Yikhum Village circular road black topping project was constructed under iconic program (LADPF) 2021-2022.
Er Mhathung Kikon E.E PWD (R&B) Wokha division in his brief technical report said that a three years of defect liability will be taken care of by the contractor and it was asserted that natural calamities are not under the purview.
The department informed that they will keep an eye for maintaining the road within the three years, while it reminded the people of N/Longidang to keep checking the drainage for the effective lifespan of the road and informing them to keep the road and drainage free from blockage as it is not accountable under defect liability.
The dedication of N/Longidang, Nyiro Range road up-gradation was done by Rev L Renathung Yanthan, Niroyo Baptist Church, while Er Kahuli Sema, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B), Nagaland chaired the programme.
In another occasion, the Yikhum Village circular road black topping was dedicated by Zaben Kithan Pastor Yikhum Village.
