Dimapur, July 13 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN on Tuesday welcomed two senior members of the NSCN (IM). An update from the MIP, GPRN/NSCN said that the two members, Vaison Vemai and VS Jonah Vemai met the GPRN/NSCN Chairman and President Gen (Retd), MB Neokpao Konyak at Designated Camp, Khehoi.
According to the MIP press release, Vaison Vemai is a very senior National worker and Steering Committee Executive of NSCN-IM. He is also the former Speaker of the Tatar Hoho, former Religious Kilonser and former Vice President, Council of Nagalim Churches (CNC). VS Jonah Vemai, Steering Committee Executive, having served the Naga nation for 37 years, also joined the GPRN/NSCN, it stated. They were welcomed by the Collective Leadership and all rank and file of GPRN/NSCN.
During the meeting at the Tatar Hall at CHQ, Khehoi Designated Camp, the two members said, “Naga people should unite and work for the upliftment of our Nation. It is a people’s movement and therefore, they were convinced that GPRN/NSCN, as one among seven NNPGs holding political negotiations with the Government of India, is progressing according to the wishes of the Naga people.”
“The Naga tribes and civil societies, in general have acknowledged that the Working Committee (WC) and GOI signing Agreed Position (AP) on November 17, 2017, is practical and realistic. Wherein “...GOI recognises the political and historical rights of the Nagas to self determine their future in consonance with their distinct identity...” this, they said was closer to Naga political and historical truth that Nagas are one,” they also stated.
According to them, the MIP said, “the decision to join GPRN/NSCN was made easier since the GoI and WC, NNPGs ‘Agreed Position’ and blueprint of impending Indo-Naga political solution, on closer look, is very much inclusive of all Naga areas with adequate scope for future Naga generations to pursue unresolved matters.”
