Two PREPAK militants surrender

Newmai News Network Imphal | April 13   Two militants belonging to banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-Pro) surrendered to the Manipur government here on Thursday.   They gave themselves up before Chief Minister N Biren Singh without arms in a rousing “Home Coming Ceremony” at the CM’s Bungalow.   Self-styled Sergeant Major Salam Sitoljit, 28, a resident of Uripok Khumanthem Leikai, and self-styled Corporal Pebam Bishorjit, 24, a resident of Kiyamgei Awang Leikai, received a rousing welcome during the event.   They surrendered to the government after escaping from their Myanmar camp, officials said. A number of camps and bases belonging to different Manipuri militant groups are believed to have been set up near the Indo-Myanmar border. Moreh town of Tengnoupal district in Manipur is located on the Indo-Myanmar border.
