Two St Joseph’s College students win cultural trophy at R-Day Camp 2026

Kohima, February 14 (MExN): Two Senior Wing NCC cadets of St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama were among the 176 cadets selected from the NCC Directorate North East Region (NER) contingent who participated in the Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2026 held in New Delhi from December 29, 2025 to January 29, 2026.

The cadets — Junior Under Officer (JUO) Kekhriesanuo Rupreo and Corporal (CPL) Metevino Natso — were part of the NCC Directorate NER contingent that bagged the trophy for Cultural Events at RDC 2026.

JUO Kekhriesanuo took part as the lead singer in the Group Singing competition and also participated in the Ballet competition. CPL Metevino was one of the musicians, playing bass guitar in the Group Singing event, and also participated in the Group Dance competition, Ballet and the Prime Minister’s Rally Cultural Programme.

Their Group Song was presented during the visit of Gen Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, while the Ballet performance was staged during the visit of Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan. The Group Dance was performed during the Youth Exchange Programme with foreign cadets at the Directorate General NCC Campus in New Delhi.

On their return on February 3, 2026, the NCC Directorate NER contingent was felicitated by Maj Gen Anurag Vij, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate NER, at Guwahati, Assam.

The management and NCC unit of the college also felicitated the two cadets on February 11, 2026, lauding them for bringing laurels to the institution. The college expressed gratitude to the officers of the organisation, especially Col Lovelesh Panghal, Commanding Officer, 1 Nagaland Battalion NCC, Kohima, for their guidance and support.
