U-17 Women’s National Football C’ship: Nagaland suffer 7-0 defeat against Kerala 

DIMAPUR, JUNE 24 (MExN): Nagaland suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat against Kerala in the Hero Junior (U-17) Women's National Football Championship 2022-23 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium Practice Ground, Guwahati on June 24. 

Shilji Shaji from Kerala was the player of the match scoring 4 goals, netting in the 17th, 27th, 37th and 46th minutes. Aparna Kr, Ashwani MR and Shamila M were the other scorers for the Kerala team. 

This defeat comes for Nagaland after the team defeated Ladakh 2-1 on June 22. 

The championship began on June 18 and matches will be played five different venues - Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sai New Field- Paltan Bazer, Nehru Stadium, Lnipe- Sonapur, and Dimakuchi Stadium in Guwahati – till July 4.

A total of 34 teams divided into eight groups are participating in the championship. A team in each group will play three matches in the qualifying stage. The winners of each group quality for quarterfinals.

Nagaland team is clubbed in group E with Ladakh, Punjab and Kerala. Nagaland’s last league match is on June 26 against Punjab.
