Fail to qualify for knock out stage despite win
Dimapur, February 1 (MExN): Nagaland beat Arunachal by 5 wickets on Thursday in the last league match of the ongoing men's Under-23 One Day league of North East and Bihar Zone, being played at Patna.
Despite the win, Nagaland failed to qualify for the knock out stage with Bihar n Manipur qualifying as the top two teams in the NE & Bihar Zone. Nagaland had defeated Sikkim, Meghalaya and Arunachal but lost to Manipur and Bihar.
Earlier, Arunachal elected to bat and managed to put on 235/9 in 50 overs. Akash managed to get past the half century mark scoring 58 and Netaji and Bengia chipped in with 22 and 21 runs respectively. Nagaland bowlers’ Nagaho, Avneet and Nadeem claimed 2 wickets each.
Nagaland had little trouble in the run chase as half centuries from Sedezalie (79) and Puchu (73) took them to 238/5. Nadeem and Tahmeed also chipped in with unbeaten scores of 32 and 23 respectively. For Arunachal, Meyndung picked 2 wickets.
