The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is not aware any detection of Unidentified Flying Objects(UFOs) in Manipur, the Parliament was reportedly informed on January 3.

"UFOs reported by the general public have often been linked to aircraft activities and dynamical process in the atmosphere that mimics a moving object,” Union Minister Jitendra Singh said in the Rajya Sabha in reply to a question on reports of UFOs sighted in Manipur, the ANI News Agency reported.

“At present, the ISRO is unaware of detection of any UFOs from Manipur," he added.

Asked whether the government would make a thorough investigation in the matter to clear the fear in the minds of the public in the state, the Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region said, “ISRO could carry out a study in this regard, if any evidence on reported sightings is received.”

According to media reports, last year in October, the news of alleged sightings of UFOs in Manipur's capital Imphal went viral.

Boys of a students' hostel in the city's Mantripukhri locality allegedly spotted a strange disc-shaped object hovering in the sky.

Nearly three months after the news went viral, the Centre has responded to the reports of UFO sightings.
