
Kohima, June 1 (DIPR): The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a notification for the (Minimum standards and procedure for awards of M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degree Regulations, 2016, no University/ institution is allowed to offer M.Phil. and Ph.D. programme through distance learning mode.
Prof.Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Secretary of UGC has advised students not to take admission in any M.Phil./Ph.D. programme, if offered by any University/institution through distance learning mode. It is informed that UGC has allowed Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), and some other State Open Universities to conduct M.Phil./Ph.D. programmes in non-technical programmes in ‘Regular (full-time/part-time) mode’ only provided these universities abide by the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degrees) Regulations, 2016 and have specific approval of the UGC.
