Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The central government embarked on a massive exercise to cover the poor rural households and enhance livelihood opportunities under the 22 day long Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (Village Self-Governance Campaign) which was launched on April 14.
Speaking at the launch of the Ujala Yojana programme for the State of Nagaland, the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel (IAS) stated that Ujala Yojana is part of the special campaign ‘Sabka Sath Goan Sabka Vikas’ for celebrating Gram Swaraj Abhiyan from April 14 to May 5.
During the campaign, the Ministry of Power has decided to complete electrification in all the remaining un-electrified households in 21058 identified villages across the country under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Saubhagya, the DC said.
In Nagaland, the programme covers 1400 villages out of which 82 villages has been selected under Dimapur district. The DPRO Dimapur in a news report said that the programme was launched by the DC Dimapur along with ADC Dimapur, Sara Jamir from the Administrative Officers Residential Complex on April 14.
ADC Dimapur, Sara informed that under Ujala Yojana 10 vans will go in the villages from April 14 to May 5, for selling 9 watt LED bulbs at the cost of Rs.50/- with 3 years special replacement warrantee providing 80 percent energy saving.
The programme is a joint venture of Ministry of Power in collaboration with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL) providing the vans for transportation free of cost and the bulbs at cheaper rates.
The ADC acknowledged the EESL for the platform given to Dimapur district. The district administration Dimapur is coordinating between EESL and the villages in carrying out the Ujala Yojana for the welfare and benefit of the villagers.
Administrative officers, GBs and Chairmen of different villages, officials from EESL also attended the flagging off ceremony.
