The Phek Region of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today distributed NDPP party ticket for UBL elections 2024 under Phek district for Phek Town Council, Meluri Town Council, Pfutsero Town Council and Chozuba Town Council.
Addressing the ticket distribution ceremony at Phek town, Nagaland Power & Parliamentary Affairs Minister KG Kenye informed that the present state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has passed the new Nagaland Municipal Act, for which election has been possible this year after a gap of 23 years.
The elected members of ULBs will be responsible for development and management of their own town affairs after the completion of election process, he said. “You have to manage your own towns. You are like a mini government,” he said
He said that anti-defection law is also proposed to be applied in ULBs, which will be passed by the next Nagaland Legislative Assembly “Be loyal, stand firm and never indulge in defection,” he said.
Asking the candidates to work hard to win election, Kudecho Khamo, Advisor CAWD & Taxes advised them to reach out to everyone with political conviction and commitment. He also told them to uphold the party principles and ideologies and strengthen the party through successful electoral process. “We will support fair and peaceful conduct of the election,” he said. He also stressed on the need to acknowledge and build each other.
Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, Advisor NRE & NSDMA stressed on the need to exercise positive attitude for people’s empowerment and all round development of the towns in the state. Stating that the candidates are going to be the servant of the public after their election, he told them not to misuse the power but to work efficiently for the benefit of the urban populace.
K Puro, Vice-president, CEB NDPP emphasised the importance of local self-government as it deals directly with people at the grassroot level. He maintained that politics is one of the powerful elements where everything can happen that can bring change.
Nuzota Swuro, Convenor, ULB Election Committee, NDPP Phek Region expressed happiness that many people have joined the party from other political parties and independent groups during the recent time. He stressed on the need to strengthen the party and also warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those who found involve in anti-party activities.
Neikhrolo Khalo, President NDPP Phek Region stressed on the need to enlarge the tent of the party and asked the party workers to put a collective effort to ensure victory of the NDPP candidates. The programme was led by Dr K. Hoshi, General Secretary CEB NDPP while ticket distribution and administration of pledge was led by Chubutse Naro, member secretary ULB Election Committee, Phek Region.
Act of blessing for candidates was pronounced by Rev T Alem, Pastor Ao Baptist Arogo Phek.

Phek Town Council: Mhashekulu, Ravelu Puro, Neizote Venuh, Keveshe Lasuh, Apele Lasuh, Salie Khesoh, Seyieveto Lohe, Vekuvolu and Vezito Tetseo.
Pfutsero Town Council: Zutatsolu Tunyi, Vezhoi Lohe, Rathsulhi Wetsah, Khazii Dukru, Pukrochuyi Vadeo, Kadielhi Mero, Akhriebu-u Sachu, Nuvezo Kotso, Kedoungupe Ritse, We-ii Mero and Neikolo Mero.
Meluri Town Council: Sutsutho Pochury, Z Porhutho Ngouri, Ziirhotshii Kajiri, T Peter, G Telu, Kimrose Pochury, Siechutho Nyuthe and Chiilekhu Nyusou.
Chozuba Town Council: Visasule Khusoh, Lhuprasa Rhakho, Sevonyi Keyho, Khozolu, P Vechizo, Vesupra Luruo, Duvonelu Lohe, Kuvethivoto Keyho and Veku Khusoh.
