The United Naga Council (UNC) has condemned the recent bomb attack on Manipur Minister Khashim Vashum, which took place in Ukhrul on September 14.

In a statement issued today, the UNC expressed shock at the incident, describing it as a "heinous act" of detonating an explosive device at the residence of the Transport, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister in Ukhrul town. The attack occurred around 8:30 pm, with the UNC calling the perpetrators "senseless criminals."

"We condemn in the strongest terms such an abominable act aimed at disrupting the peaceful atmosphere in the region," the UNC stated. The council emphasized that "intimidation or threats" are not the solution to any problem, and labelled the attack as a "cowardly assault" on both Vashum's family and peace-loving citizens.

The UNC urged authorities to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation and to ensure that the culprits face strict punishment. It also called on the Naga community to remain vigilant against "sinister policies" that seek to divide and destabilize their unity.

The council highlighted the need for steadfastness in resisting any forces working to undermine the aspirations of the Naga people.
