The United Naga Council (UNC) today stated that it was constrained to issue this directive to the “Naga population” especially falling under the jurisdiction of Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) for strict compliance, that, “no activities in regards to the “purported construction of ‘border fencing’ along the imaginary artificial Indo-Mayanmar Border (IMB) will be allowed in the Naga ancestral homeland.”
The UNC stated that this was issued in continuation of the previous directive issued on October 29, 2024, and resolution vide number 2 of the ‘presidential council meeting’ of the United Naga Council (UNC) held on November 7, 2024,
It requested the units and sub-ordinate bodies of the UNC (of the impacted areas) to initiate stringent steps to prevent the said activities at their respective jurisdiction in unison without fear and favor.
The UNC reiterated that any individual or organization involved in colluding with the implementing agents for favor, co-operation or providing assistance to the related departments will be viewed seriously and face dire consequences as per the standing resolution and position of the UNC.
Further, the UNC called upon the “Naga population” in the state of Manipur to remain steadfast to fight against such “sinister design of the colonial power to alienate the Nagas from their lands by the wild move of Government of India - constructing walls and fencing along the imaginary Indo-Myanmar borders and be prepared for any eventualities”.
