Dimapur, June 11 (MExN): An unidentified female dead body was discovered hanging with a nylon rope in a jungle at Lotovi Village, Niuland, on June 10, the Dimapur Police informed on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime)/PRO, Dimapur the dead body was found in highly decomposed state and basing on the cloth description, the deceased is suspected to be a non-Naga.
The deceased was wearing blue blouse, pink sari with white print, it said, adding that the body has been transferred to the Dimapur District Hospital Morgue for a post-mortem examination and identification, following all legal procedures.
In connection with the issue, the PRO further informed that claimant/ relatives/ friends of the deceased can contact the Officer-in-Charge, Women Police Station, Dimapur at 7085055027.
Meanwhile, a Dimapur police official informed The Morung Express that they are investigating the discovery of the body and have not ruled out the possibility of foul play. Forensic samples have been collected as part of the ongoing investigation, the official added.
